Your Legal Responsibilities as a Landlord
Under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, landlords must arrange a gas safety check every year, give a copy of the gas safety record to existing tenants within 28 days of the check, give new tenants a copy before they move in, and keep records for at least two years. Failing to do so can lead to heavy fines and puts your tenants at risk of gas leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning.
